My Personal Journey Through Prayer
My name is Jenna, and I want to share something deeply personal with you.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that prayer is not just something we do it’s something we live.
There were seasons in my life where I felt lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next. And in those moments, prayer became my lifeline.
It connected me to God in a way nothing else could.
Through prayer, I’ve experienced peace in chaos, strength in weakness, and clarity in confusion.
What I’ve learned is this:
Every season of life requires a different kind of prayer.
These 5 powerful prayer strategies are the exact rhythms that have helped me navigate life’s highs and lows and I believe they can help you too.

1. Morning Conversations with God
Every morning, I begin my day with a simple conversation with God.
Not a perfect prayer. Not a long prayer. Just an honest one.
I talk to Him about my fears, my plans, my doubts, and my hopes.
And in return, I receive something I cannot create on my own peace.
Why this works:
It sets the tone for your entire day
It brings clarity before decisions
It strengthens your connection with God
Scripture Anchor:
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart…
Simple Morning Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this new day. I surrender my plans into Your hands. Guide my steps, my thoughts, and my decisions. Fill me with peace and wisdom.
Amen.
2. Practicing Gratitude in Times of Joy
I’ve learned that prayer isn’t just for hard times it’s also for joyful moments.
In seasons of peace and abundance, I make it a habit to thank God intentionally.
Gratitude shifts your focus from what’s missing to what’s already present.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) reminds us:
“Give thanks in all circumstances…”
What helped me:
I started a simple gratitude journal writing down three things each day.
Over time, I noticed my perspective changing.
Simple Gratitude Prayer:
Father,
Thank You for the blessings in my life both big and small. Teach me to recognize Your goodness daily.
Amen.

3. Surrendering in Times of Trial
There were moments when life felt too heavy to carry.
And I had to make a choice:
Would I try to fix everything myself, or would I surrender it to God?
Surrender doesn’t mean giving up it means trusting God fully.
What changed for me:
When I began surrendering my worries through prayer, I experienced peace even before situations changed.
Scripture Anchor:
Psalm 46:10 (NIV) “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Prayer of Surrender:
Lord,
I give You my fears, my worries, and my struggles. I trust that You are in control, even when I don’t understand.
Amen.
4. Finding Comfort in Times of Sorrow
There have been seasons of deep sadness in my life—moments where nothing seemed to help.
But prayer became my place of refuge.
It didn’t remove the pain instantly—but it gave me the strength to keep going.
Psalm 34:18 (NIV) says:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted…”
What I experienced:
comfort in silence
strength in weakness
hope in the middle of pain
Prayer for Comfort:
Father,
You see my pain. You know my heart. Hold me close and give me strength to keep going.
Amen.
5. Seeking Guidance in Times of Uncertainty
Life is full of unknowns and this is where prayer becomes essential.
In seasons where I didn’t know what to do next, I leaned into prayer for direction.
And often, clarity didn’t come instantly but peace did.
Psalm 32:8 (NIV)
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go…”
What helped me:
creating a quiet space for prayer
writing down thoughts before and after praying
listening, not just speaking
Prayer for Guidance:
Lord,
Lead me in the right direction. Help me trust Your timing and Your plan, even when I cannot see the full picture.
Amen.
